Kiwi is awesome!! Who would think that a 5 lb 16.5 year old tiny chihuahua could have so much spunk 😃 She's great!

Baby and Holly are simply wonderful -- and a great addition for Jasmine, my existing Pom. She was lost after having to put down her best friend (another Chi). I am so happy that you brought Holly with Baby -- even though I was intending to adopt only one (to pair up with the Pom). Holly made a great addition to the family. They are both wonderful and they have helped Jasmine to move on without Camigwen. Thank you, YCRAA, for the sunshine you brought to us.

My partner and I adopted Fribble - now called Rocky - from YCR this week. Rocky is the best little dog - very active, loves his walks, loves to be with us. All around a great little guy. Just what I was looking for. Kate, the foser from YCR, was so good - spent a lot of time with us answering all questions and letting us get to know him. Thank you YCR for my new best friend!

In 2010 my husband and I adopted Cocoa, now called Audrey Hepburn. We have another foster Chihuahua. Audrey was a bit unused to new sights and sounds but is gradually learning the routines here and really loving her walks, riding in the car, good food and the company of another dog. She is a lap dog, loves to snuggle and is very playful and what beautiful and intelligent looks she gives us. And most wonderful of all she loves to sleep with her new dog friend at night.

Great page! My husband and I are interested in adopting, he has had chihuahuas before and we are taking our time to investigate all the options. I know from looking at other sites that RI pets cannot be adopted out of state. How do I find out what dogs are in RI, or is there something that can be done to deal with this? thank!

From YCRAA

Shauna,

We take care of Chihuahuas in all six New England states, it does not matter which New England state you live in. Our foster homes are throughout the area, and volunteers co-ordinate transportation when adopting. Frequently a dog surrendered in CT will be fostered in Maine, then adopted by a family in Vermont.

I thought your group covered LI, is there a rescue group on LI? I have a three year old chi, and she is the apple of our eye.

I've seen your group at Pet Rock, and LOVE the breed....I wrote a children's book about my chihuahua, to try to help young children understand the breed so they know how to treat the chi....and on the back page, I had the publisher print your website!!!! Hope it helps! Whenever I have a book signing, or show, I always direct people to your site!

I am so happy I stumbled on this site. I love this breed and ever since I was a small child have wanted one. and now I own one. Diesel is the light of my life next to my children. I hope to have another one when I move into a bigger space and have more room for another chi. Thank you so much for what you do for the breed and god bless!! Keep the good work up.

We recently adopted Brock, now called Kubus (pronounced Kooboosh) he has joined our home with our two other Chi's and has made a wonderful addition. He is very smart, and pretends to be a one lady man, but really loves attention from all ladies 😉 We are very happy with our new addition !! Thank you!

From YCRAA

Kubus is a very fortunate Chihuahua to have you.

I am the owner of 3 lovely Chi's and I love their diverse personalities. I found your site and was a little heartbroken to see some of the adoptees. I would live to know more about how I could become involved in the Rhode Island area.

I'm the proud owner of four chis. All of them came from puppy mill-like conditions. Of the two recent "rescues", one has settled in great, the other one has deeper issues to address. I always said I would never own a Chihuahua because all the ones I ever knew were nippy little things. Now that I have them, I see how wrong I was about the breed.

Thank you Yankee Chihuahuas for all the work you do! There are far too many people "buying" Chi's and then dumping them when they are bored or frustrated.

We rescued a long haired Chi 4 years ago....she is 7 or 8 years old and we have finally convinced her that she is loved and safe.

We are hoping to adopt a brother or sister Chi to give her someone her own size to play with. Her younger sister is a 4 year old Retriever mix and doesn't like to play with her.

We were very excited by your web site and the pictures of your Chi's looking for a home. We are looking forward to possibly working with you towards an adoption.

Again, thanks for the wonderful work you do.

Hi its been almost a year since we got Honey see her in the 2008 adoption list. We love her sooo much!!!! Honey has taken to the kids my youngest child Emily the most. When the kids go outside or leave to go to school Honey will cry, when Emily comes back inside Honey will jump all over her and kiss Emily all over. I wouldn't trade her for nothing. Thank you Chihuahua rescue, maybe in the future we are thinking about getting another chihuahua for honey to play with. 🙂

From YCRAA

Honey is one very special girl. Just the perfect match of Emily

Hi-just wanted to update you all on Coco-he is doing GREAT with our family, we can't imagine a dog that is cuter or more fun! It was a long wait-but worth it. I feel that you all really took the time to find a dog that would fit with our crazy family-and a family to fit with a very sweet, energetic dog!
